Operational Review
The maintenance of operational assets to deliver robust and efficient levels of service is a revenue and capital intensive activity. Strategies across the Industry very considerably, and despite these strategies, maintenance activities are often driven by reactive pressures rather then least cost solutions. The resultant emphasis on breakdown maintenance can not only be unnecessarily costly, but can result in process failure with consequential stakeholder dissatisfaction.
CRA's experience across a wide range of engineering focused sectors is applied to the review of asset reliability and criticality to define service delivery centred maintenance strategies. By examining cause and frequency of failure, and identifying how the asset function is linked to process capability, appropriate strategies can be developed. These strategies balance the application of preventive, pre-planned and breakdown maintenance, including considerations of asset replacement, to reduce overall expenditure and enhance security of service delivery.
