CRA Presents RiskSpectrum PSA User Course to British Energy

05/03/2009 18:39

This week CRA have delivered a course to British Energy Generation Ltd (BEGL) in order to instruct their staff on how to fully utilise the latest features of RiskSpectrum PSA version 1.0.2. The course was delivered at BEGL’s headquarters in Barnwood, Gloucestershire, and was designed to highlight the key differences between this latest version and previous versions of the RiskSpectrum software. RiskSpectrum PSA Professional is currently used extensively for safety and reliability calculation in Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) for all of the Nuclear Power Stations owned and operated by BEGL. CRA have worked closely with RiskSpectrum’s creators Relcon Scandpower to improve the latest software version. As PSA specialists CRA’s feedback is greatly valued by Relcon Scandpower and the upgrades present in the latest version have improved the usability of the software, while maintaining its technical integrity. In addition to this user course, CRA has also produced a validation report, which provides details of the rigorous tests they have applied to the new version in order to ensure that it does not provide erroneous results.

CRA consultant Hugh Stephenson, who managed and delivered the project, said:
“The latest version of RiskSpectrum has vastly improved the user interface, this means that navigating a model is now more intuitive and key information is now on display. These improvements show how Relcon Scandpower has taken our feedback on board to improve this product. I believe that British Energy's choice of CRA to validate and deliver a course on this new version acknowledges CRA's level of experience with PSA modelling and the importance of our role as a tier 2 supplier.”
