CRA celebrates 10 glorious years at the races

“Where have the last 10 years gone?” says Jasbir Sidhu, the Managing Director of Corporate Risk Associates who specialise in providing Risk Analysis services to the Nuclear Industry.

To mark 10 years of operation, CRA held a joint celebration with staff, clients, and industry colleagues by attending the Paddy Power Gold Cup on 12 November 2011. The guest list of 200 included many Nuclear Industry colleagues from past and present.   Most had the pleasure of picking a winner on 4 legs!

Founded in 2000 by Garry Cooksley and Jasbir Sidhu, CRA has grown into a mature consultancy, which has developed a major reputation for supplying high quality and value-for-money Risk Analysis services to the Nuclear Industry.  The CRA team members have been involved in Operational Risk Analysis since the late seventies and are experts in Probabilistic Safety Analysis and Human Factors Assessments.

It was a beautiful sunny autumnal day at the races. The Final Fence restaurant provided the perfect vantage point for all to see their nags win or lose; some were up and some were down but overall everyone had lots of fun!

“In the beginning only Garry and I worked from Garry’s dining room in Leatherhead”, says Jasbir. “It was a very interesting time as we had to work extremely hard to win the trust of our clients and make ourselves attractive to potential recruits.”

Today CRA employs over 25 consultants and has offices located in Leatherhead, London and Warrington.  CRA are passionate about serving the needs of the Nuclear Industry and have a big commitment to training and developing the next generation of PSA/HFA experts. CRA’s graduate training programme has been approved by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. CRA also fund R&D in risk analysis by supporting an Engineering Doctorate in Uncertainty Analysis in PSA and an MSc project in reflecting ageing of structures, systems and components in nuclear power plant PSAs/HFAs.

“It  is very important even for SMEs to be thinking about R&D to maintain their competitive edge which in consultancy is knowledge and know-how”, says Jasbir.

After a long day of merriment in a convivial atmosphere, most returned home jubilant having cleared out the bookies, whilst even the dourest Scotsman emailed the next day “Suffice to say the day was so good it totally suppressed my natural Scottish glumness at losing money”.

Roll on the next 10 years!
