CRA Attend European Fire PSA Workshop in Barcelona

16/06/2009 10:28

CRA have recently attended the European Fire Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) workshop hosted by General Electric-Hitachi (GE-Hitachi) in Barcelona. The workshop was presented primarily by Dennis Henneke of GE-Hitachi and Paul Guymer of Jacobsen Engineering who are internationally recognised experts in the field of fire PSA studies. Delegates from nuclear power plant operators all over Europe attended this workshop including KGG (Germany), BKW (Switzerland), British Energy (UK), Vattenfall (Sweden), Iberdrola (Spain), EDF (France), and TVO (Finland). This workshop presented the latest techniques and experimental data for performing fire PSA studies, and acted as a forum for all the delegates involved to share their experience with performing fire PSA studies on their nuclear installations. CRA delegate Michael Zammett remarked:

“This conference was very informative; it not only confirmed that the fire PSA we are currently performing for British Energy is consistent with the latest standards, but it also gave a great insight into how fire PSA studies are going to develop in the coming years. CRA’s attendance at this conference underlines our commitment to keep up to date with the latest developments in PSA.”
